IL Framework in the Classroom

This guide is primarily for PC librarians to help integrate the Framework for Information Literacy into teaching and learning at Phoenix College.

Phoenix College Information Literacy Statement:  Students will conduct research as an investigative inquiry, approach searching as an exploration, evaluate the authority of information in context, recognize that scholarship is an ongoing conversation, and use information responsibly.

Librarians are encouraged to use formative assessment with techniques such as the one-minute paper [sample: 3 things I learned, 2 questions I still have, and 1 thing I’ll do differently], short quizzes, "test your knowledge" questions, classroom discussions, or worksheet evaluations.  Librarians should work collaboratively with course instructors for summative assessment.  Summative assessment suggestions are included for each frame.
