Using Interlibrary loan service

Looking for a title we don't own?

Where is your interlibrary loan service?

Answer

Our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system is used for requesting books and articles from libraries outside of the MCCCD system by our students and faculty/staff.  Community members should contact their public library for ILL assistance.

There is no fee to use this system.  Keeping with our general circulation policy, we recommend no more than 20 ILL requests at once.  While there is no fee to use this system, on rare occasions, a lending library may request payment.  In these rare cases, the PC Library will contact you if you want to proceed with the request.

We highly recommend that you first check to see if the item is at our libraries by searching in One Search.  You can also expand your search results to libraries outside of MCCCD.

The ILL form will auto-populate the bibliographic information for you!

You can also go directly to our online Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system to request books and articles from libraries outside the MCCCD system.  For assistance placing ILL requests, please get in touch with the Reference Desk at 602-285-7470.

Using eBook Databases

You can also choose to search individual eBook databases. Searching a specific database will give you different options to narrow your search that are not available in OneSearch. Plus, you will have less unrelated information to sort through. Here are some of the eBook databases the PC Library has in our collection related to countries around the world.

Downloading eBooks

How do I download ebooks?

Answer

You can either read ebooks online or download them if needed.

Here are download instructions for three of our most popular ebook collections.

1. EBSCO eBooks (Academic Collection)

  • In order to download eBooks on your computer, you must have Adobe Digital Editions installed.
  • The EBSCO Mobile App works without needing the Adobe Digital Editions app.
  • Use the links in this answer for specific "How To" instructions.

2. GALE eBooks

  • Unfortunately, you can't download an entire Gale ebook.  You may download an HTML or PDF file of an ebook article or chapter.
  • While viewing an ebook article or chapter in TEXT view, click Download on the article toolbar.

  • This will open the specific section of the book in a new browser window as a PDF file.
  • You can save the PDF file on your computer and move it to your device by attaching your device to your computer via USB cable.
  • You can also save GALE PDFs in Google Drive.

3. Salem Press

  • While you can't download an entire book, you can save an ebook chapter or article in Google Drive.
