This guide is an important resource that you will use throughout the semester as you build toward the final assignment. Each tab will walk you through important concepts, skills, and resources for effective research. In addition, each tab will have a short activity that provides an opportunity to practice, explore, or reflect on the information presented.
The final assignment encourages you to explore important issues within your field of interest. In doing so, you will discover where to find relevant information in your field, as well as gain a better understanding of how information in that field is created, shared, and utilized. To accomplish this, we will introduce two important concepts that will help you to analyze and synthesize information:
Authority is Contextual and Constructed; and Scholarship is a Conversation
We'll explore those concepts later, but to begin go to the next tab "Start Here: Information Resources" to learn more about the variety of resources available to find quality information in your field.
