What Are Political Parties & Platforms?

Political party platforms guide members' positions on a variety of issues that are important to the country (Gelb). They are documents that identify the party's official positions on issues that face the nation, and they are used to guide party members and communicate their positions to voters. These platforms are typically unveiled and officially adopted during national conventions, where the party's presidential nominee is also selected. Platforms serve as a roadmap for the party's agenda and provide a basis for voters to understand what the party stands for and what they aim to accomplish if elected.
