Phoenix College Library Resources

The purpose of this assignment is to explore published articles that cover topics in your field of interest. At this stage, you will become familiar with your topics by finding and reading magazine or newspaper articles written for a general audience (not experts in the field). Follow the steps below to access and search the library database Opposing Viewpoints for articles on your topic.  This assignment will introduce you to using Phoenix College Library databases.

Searching the Opposing Viewpoints database

As a student of Phoenix College, you have free access to over 100 databases through the library.  Databases are digital collections of books, articles, images, and films.  Begin the assignment by opening the Opposing Viewpoints database (click the link below) and log in with your MEID and password.  

Once you've opened the Opposing Viewpoints database, search a topic in your field or use the "browse" feature to find a topic in your field.  From the results page, look at the results in the "Viewpoints" and "News" categories.  Choose a current article about your topic from either of those categories to use for Part 2 of this assignment.
